The Playbook

Everything on this site (the map, the database, the scripts, the games) runs on one operating system. This is it, written down. Read it in twenty minutes, practice it for eighteen years.

01

The Stance

The goal is kids who are gentle with people, hard to manipulate, and dangerous to propaganda. All three. A kind kid with no filter gets recruited. A skeptical kid with no warmth becomes the thing we're resisting. The combination is the point.

The enemy is not your kid's tablet, your chaos, or your worst parenting day. The enemy is a set of machines and the people who own them: feeds engineered for outrage, recommendation systems that radicalize for watch time, chatbots that simulate love for subscription revenue. Naming that changes everything. You stop fighting your child and start coaching them against a common opponent.

The posture is firm and kind, at the same time, every time. Firm without kind hardens into control, and controlled kids obey the next controller too. Kind without firm dissolves into drift, and drifting kids get caught by whatever current is strongest. Firm and kind together builds the thing no algorithm can fake: a kid who trusts you enough to bring you the hard thing.

02

The Framework

Every hard moment, one spine. It works on toddlers, teenagers, and honestly, most adults.

VALIDATE

Name the feeling or the reality first, without judgment. Not agreement, recognition. A kid who feels seen stops performing and starts listening. Skip this step and everything after it bounces off armor.

HOLD

State the boundary or the truth, warm and unmoved. No threats, no bargaining, no wobble. The line is not a punishment, it's the load-bearing wall. Kids push on walls to check the building is safe.

TEACH

Install one transferable skill, usually as a question, always after the storm. Teaching mid-meltdown is throwing seeds into a hurricane. The teach is where a moment becomes a capability.

Worked example

Situation: the screen goes off, the meltdown begins.

Validate: "Turning it off feels terrible, I know. Your brain was mid-fun and I hit the brakes." Hold: "And the screen is still going off. The feeling is allowed, the extra episode is not." Teach (hours later, calm): "You know why it's so hard to stop? The app never gives you an ending. That's built in. So we make our own ending. Want to pick it?"

The Six Pillars

Six capabilities, built in parallel, over years. Not a curriculum. A direction.

Genuine Empathy

The muscle underneath everything: noticing other people's inner lives and letting it matter. Empathy is the immune system against cruelty-as-belonging, which is how most recruitment starts.

Core practice: narrate inner lives out loud. "That kid at the park was frustrated, did you see his hands?" Kids learn to read people from parents who read people.

Media Literacy as Self-Defense

Not less media. Sharper eyes. The three questions, asked until they're a reflex: Who made this? Why did they make it? Is it true? A kid who can spot the technique cannot be run by it.

Core practice: co-view and catch the technique. Manufactured outrage, flexed wealth, us-versus-them. Call it like a sport. Tools: the scripts, Play the Villain.

Civic Learning

The map of power: how rules get made, who makes them, and how ordinary people move them. Kids who understand the mechanism don't fall for the strongman shortcut, because they know change has plumbing.

Core practice: trace one rule to its maker. Why is the speed limit 25 here? Who decided? Who could change it? Democracy is a how, teach the how.

Digital Wellness

The machines in the house, out-thought instead of banned. Feeds, assistants, AI companions that simulate care. The frame: impressive tools, built by people, checked by us. AI literacy is the new stranger danger, taught the same way, without the panic.

Core practice: the family agreement, negotiated and signed by everyone, reviewed as kids grow. Start with the Values Drift Test on yourself.

Community Advocacy

Neighbors as a verb. Kids learn that safety is collective by watching you build it: showing up, holding bridges to people who are drifting, refusing to let your family become an island the algorithm can pick off alone.

Core practice: one visible act of showing up per month, with the kid along. Mutual aid drop-off, library board meeting, a meal for the new family. Boring on purpose. That's the lesson.

Body Safety & Consent

The oldest protection there is: your body, your call, and no secrets from safe adults. Every consent rep at four (the hug they didn't want to give) is a rehearsal for the no that matters at fourteen. Secrecy is the tell, in person and online.

Core practice: back the small no every time, and repeat the deal: you can tell me anything, zero trouble. Start with My Body, My Yes.

04

Ages & Stages

Same system, different altitude. You are always doing all six pillars; the language changes.

2 to 5 · Foundation

Name everything plainly: that's a robot, that's an ad, your body is yours, friends have feelings. No fear, just labels. The reflexes you install now are load-bearing at fifteen.

6 to 9 · Cause & Effect

They can reason now, so hand them the levers: catch the AI being wrong, ask the three questions, trace a rule, practice the repair after a friendship blowup. Make verification a game.

10 to 12 · Preparation

The pipeline's acquisition window. Peers now carry the algorithm to them, so prepare rather than restrict: co-view the influencers, negotiate the phone deal, pre-teach the manipulation playbook before it's used on them.

13 and up · Partnership

You are moving from operator to consultant. Respect their intelligence out loud, hold the non-negotiables (safety, dignity, honesty), and keep the pipeline open: the win condition is that they still bring you the hard thing.
